Any good hiker who enjoys ambitious treks through the mountains can find his heart’s desire in a mountain boot like the Sirius II GTX from Hanwag!
These category D rigid boots are perfect for alpine challenges and is also very suitable for simple walks in low temperatures thanks to its light insulation!
The upper is made of high-quality cowhide leather, which makes it even more robust and durable.
The edge of the upper is made of softer leather to ensure a high level of comfort.
To keep your feet dry at all times, these boots feature a Gore-Tex membrane.
The Vibram Alpin Light outer sole is the icing on the cake, it provides remarkable support and optimal cushioning, as it absorbs shocks very well thanks to a polyurethane wedge along the entire length of the foot.
It is of course possible to equip these mountaineering boots with crampons.
The thermoplastic polyurethane scree protection edge that wraps around the shoe protects the upper from impact and rubbing against rocks.
Easily accessible lacing gives the shoe a level of support that precisely meets the needs of its use, while the tightening loops make convenient two-zone lacing possible.
No matter the size of the challenge or the difficulty of the climb, the Hanwag Sirius II GTX is a thoroughbred mountaineering boot that you can really rely on 100%!
Choosing the perfect hiking boots for alpine terrain can become a big headache. There is a great number of outstanding boots but the question remains the same. Which one is the perfect for me?
Luckily I answered mine. I chose my new hiking boots, wear them to the mountain and returned happy and fully satisfied with my choice.
Table of Contents
My new hiking boots are Hanwag’s Sirius II for women.
First of all I want to tell you that I bought them online. I strongly believe that it is the most important to try to find the right boot by trying a lot of them, but the description of the size chart was more than enough to get me the perfect fit.
Sirius II offers the most comfort with their shape. Not only in front for the toes but also at its width. The fit around the ankle is also perfect. It offers full support even in big slopes and slippy terrains.
A small but great detail is the clamping buckles that block the laces and allow you to fix them in two parts. I have to admit that I found it exceptional practical.
The first time I wear my boots was on a day hike, in mix terrain with rocks, grass, snow and ice for almost six hours. I felt like I was wearing them all year long.
They are compatible with step-in crampon. Even with French, German and American made crampons on a big slope gradient, the fit was perfect.
The ankle support is more than satisfying. My boots and my feet were just one.
The outer sole has a perfect grip and the best part is that in case of damage after a long use you can send them to Hanwag and they will replace them.
Price
Every one knows that alpine trekking boots aren’t the cheapest boots to buy. In comparison with boots in the same category the Hanwag Sirius II came a little cheaper, and the money difference allowed me to buy two pairs of hanwag socks!
Weight
Boot’s weight is also important in hiking boots. And I am very happy to say that I didn’t felt like wearing heavy boots. In comparison with my previous boots – Koflach– they are much lighter.
About the ankle support
As I mentioned before, the extra clip that allows you to tighten the lower part of the boot or the upper/ankle is a big advandance since you can get the perfect ankle fit.
Sirius II offers maximum ankle support and because of the length of the upper part.
Durability
The construction of the boot is extra heavy, with full grain leather and roll guard rubber edge to offer excellent protection from the elements.
The leather is breathable (Gore-Tex lining) and waterproof and warm even in very low temperature.

Cons
Haven’t find yet but I am going to update my review as soon as I have something more to say.
Extra
Got also two pair of Hanwag’s socks. A thermo pair and the bunion socks.
Perfect choice both of them but don’t wear the thermo on a shiny day. It gets really hot! Even if you suffer from cold feet you won’t be able to handle so much heat on your feet!
Both pairs have excellent fit.
